Attachments renamed to winmail.dat

This issue can occur when sending from Outlook and you are using the Rich Text message format, which the recipient's e-mail program cannot interpret correctly. In order to correct this, send your messages in either HTML or plain text format.

In Microsoft Outlook, you can change the format of the email messages that you send by using the following steps:

  • On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Mail Format.

  • In "Compose in this message format", click to select Plain Text, and then click OK.
