Server Software Update Notification: 10-10-2010

The following updates are scheduled to be sent out as follows:

FreeBSD VPS/MPS v3


The following updates will be made to the FreeBSD VPS/MPS v3 platform occurring October 11, 2010 through October 29, 2010 in all datacenters.

FreeBSD 6.4 Kernel Update
The FreeBSD VPS/MPS v3 kernel will be updated to the FreeBSD 6.4 Kernel. No action needed. However, be advised that the server will be rebooted as part of the update. Specific server notices will be sent out prior to reboot by Verio Operations Staff.

 

Signature Hosting


The following updates will be made to the Signature hosting platform. These updates begin disting to the following data centers:

Sterling, VA:         10/12 thru 10/23
San Jose, CA:       10/28
FreeBSD Kernel 6.4 Update
Kernel Updated as part of the FreeBSD 4 EOL. Specific server notices will be sent out prior to reboot by the Verio Operations Staff.
Joomla!
Joomla! has been added to the Control Panel. This Content Management System provides a powerful set of tools for building web sites. For more information on this feature, see:

2048 Bit Certificates
Code updated so that customers who currently are using 1024-bit encryption can generate new digital certificates with the higher level of security offered by 2048 bit encryption. Previously, these customers could only generate new certificates using 1024 bit encryption.
WordPress Upgrade to 3.0.1 and Installer Bug Fix
Code updated so that customers will use WordPress version 3.0.1. Existing WordPress customers will be able to update to this revision. For more information about this version, see:

Code updated so that customers will no longer see a confirmation message if they try to install WordPress without the correct MySQL password. Previously, if they attempted to install WordPress without the correct password, they would receive a confirmation message of a successful install; in reality the feature was not installed. Now, if they try to use an incorrect password, they will see an error message.
Plans Calendar Upgrade to 8.2
Code updated so that customers will use Plans Calendar version 8.2. For more information about Plans Calendar, see:

PHP Upgrade to 5.2.14
Code updated so that customers will use PHP version 5.2.14. For more information about this version, see:

MySQL Upgrade to 5.1.50
Code updated so that customers will use MySQL 5.1.50. For more information about this version, see:

http://www.mysql.com/products/.
ShopSite Single Sign On
Code updated so that customers can click the ShopSite icon in their Control Panel and be taken directly to the ShopSite Control Panel without having to re-enter their login data. Previously, customers who clicked the ShopSite Icon would have to log in again at the ShopSite control panel.
Clam AV Update to 0.96.1
Clam AV updated to v0.96.1 for the FreeBSD6 boxes only. This update will not be installed on the FreeBSD 4 boxes. This update contains many changes. For more information on these changes, go to:

Gallery 2 Installation Message
Code updated so that customers see the proper confirmation message when they successfully install Gallery 2. Previously, they would see an incorrect success message.
SpamAssassin Updates
Code updated to v3.3.1 This update contains many changes. For more information about these changes, go to:

Code updated so that SpamAssassin configuration files no longer contain openwhois; this will result in a reduction of false positive spam results. Previously, the inclusion of openwhois was causing certain legitimate email messages to be blocked.
File Sharing Bug Fix
Code updated so that customers see the proper confirmation message when they un-share a file or directory. Previously, the Control Panel would display a message about deleting the file rather than un-sharing it.
Script Error Notification When Using Internet Explorer
Code updated so that an Internet Explorer script error does not appear when accessing the Control Panel.
Email Address Updates
Code updated so that Mail Forward entries are checked for valid formatting. Previously, customers could add incorrectly formatted mail forwards without the Control Panel notifying them.

Code updated so that customers cannot submit an email address starting with a space instead of a character. Previously, customers could add email addresses starting with a space without the Control Panel notifying them, resulting in mail associated with that address failing.
Control Panel Version History
Control Panel Version History updated so that relevant code changes through version 6.5 are surfaced to customers.
Multibyte Character Filtering for WebMail
Code updated so that incoming email messages are checked for multibyte characters in the Subject line. If the Subject line contains multibyte characters, the message will be passed through a decoder so that mail filters will work. If there are no multibyte characters, the email message will be sent directly to the mail filters. Previously, spam email messages with multibyte characters in the subject line were not being caught by the spam filters.
Intermediate Digital Certificate Updates
  • Added Intermedia Certificate
  • Added Intermedia Valley Certificate
  • Added VeriSign Certificate
  • Added GeoTrust Intermediate Certificates
  • Adding VeriSign Intermediate Certificates (VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority was installed before.)
  • Added Thawte intermediate certificates.
