Linux VPS E-mail Service
As a core service, your private server supports mail services by means of the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Post
Office Protocol (POP or POP3), and Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP or, more precisely, IMAP4).
- SMTP provides a standard method to send email messages between servers.
- POP provides a standard method to retrieve email from a mail server.
- IMAP provides a standard method of accessing electronic mail or bulletin board messages kept on a shared mail server.
- Dovecot fulfills POP and IMAP service
requests and email is stored by default in the mbox email format.
These standards are maintained and updated as Internet industry standards by the Internet Engineering Task Force
(http://www.ietf.org/).
Procmail and SpamAssassin
Your private server supports the Procmail email delivery agent and the SpamAssassin email filter.
