Server Software Update Notification: 10-16-2009
Important updates in this Notification:
- Kernel for Linux
- User Quotas for Linux
- TCP Sockets for Linux
- Firewall for v3
The following dist will be completed 10/12/2009 through 10/23/09 in all datacenters:
Note: Several of these updates require a restart of the system for both
Linux and v3. Reboots will occur over the two week period indicated. Refer to future email notifications for specific
account restart information.
Linux VPS/MPS:
- Kernel
- The system kernel will be updated to address race conditions for certain kernel modules. No action needed.
- User Quotas
- The system will be updated to address issues regarding the loss of certain subuser quota information in
specific situations. No action needed.
- TCP Sockets
- The system will be updated to set the TCP socket recycle rate to the Linux default. This allows the TCP
sockets to remain in the TIME_WAIT state in a default fashion. No action needed.
FreeBSD VPS/MPS v3:
- Software Firewall
- The software firewall will be updated to address panic issues with IPv6 addresses. No action needed.
